Essential EffTD: More Terms You Should Know

by Mike Vardy on April 30, 2009

EffTDictionaryAs you may remember, back in January I discussed several essential terms that you’d want to have in your word arsenal.  In order to further develop said arsenal, much like many military nations across the globe as well as eventual spelling bee champions, here are a few more:

Neventually: To expect something to eventually lose popularity but never does.
Used in a sentence: I hope the idea of William Shatner coming back to the rebooted Star Trek franchise will go away, but that’s neventually going to happen.

Bambivalent: A feeling of having a really crappy start to something (i.e Bambi’s mother being killed in the early stages of said film).
Used in a sentence: The early morning migraine was evidence of the bambivalent day ahead.

EventuAle: A cold beer that one drinks so slowly it becomes warm during the process.
Used in a sentence: I started with a lager, but by the end of the playoff game it was an EventuAle.

Eventual Planner: A special event planner that takes forever to get stuff done.
Used in a sentence: The tents for the wedding looked great, despite being booked in the 11th hour by the Eventual Planner.

Stephentual Colbert: 1. A long-ago TiVo’d episode of The Colbert Report that when watched is somewhat out of date. 2. An attempt on my part to get the attention of Stephen Colbert with a mildly witty play on his name.
Used in a sentence: Perhaps by the time I interview/am interviewed by Stephen Colbert, he’ll be known to Eventualists as Stephentual Colbert.
