(Clearly, you all know why this take on a beloved Christmas poem was done at this juncture. If not, you really need to brush up on your Eventualism. I suggest you start here.)
‘Twas the night I joined Twitter, while on the Internet
And I soon found myself mired in follower debt.
The Tweeple I followed did not seem to care,
To increase their Twitter Karma; it’s like I wasn’t there.
The wife and the daughter were snug in their beds,
While I spent the night following hashtags instead.
Mamma asked why I was spending time on “that crap”,
But I figured at 5 am I could sneak in a quick nap.
When a sound from my TweetDeck arose such a clatter,
I quickly changed panes to see what was the matter.
Away to a saved search, I flew like a flash,
Scanned the pane quickly looking for tags with a hash.
The moon on the MacBook reflected its glow
Made me regret not getting a matte screen so the image would show.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
A mention from @aplusk which soon draw a tear.
With 140 characters, so brief yet contrived
I knew in a moment my Twinfluence had arrived.
More rapid than eagles my followers they came,
And I whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
“On, @jimmyfallon! On, @wilw! On, @theonion and @zappos!
On, @mrskutcher! On, @ijustine! On, @ev and @kevinrose!
To the top of the list! To the stars! To the sky!
But wait up for @TheEllenShow and @gtdguy!”
And then, in an instant, they all flew the nest
Must’ve been something that I tweeted, I guess.
As I logged out, wondering what would fill my need;
I made like @Scobleizer and signed up for FriendFeed.
